Lesson Levels

Each event we create will have a level number that guides you on the type of stuff we'll cover. Read the descriptions below to decide which level suits you best.

Please note, this is mainly to make sure regulars aren't rehashing the same lessons too often, but if you'd like to come along and help teach others (or if you have some questions on what you're currently working on and don't mind sitting through others getting set up - then please do feel free to come along to any event).

Programmer Level 0

Suitable for complete beginners. We'll teach you how to set up a server, get connected to it securely and prepare you for the basics.

Requirements:

  • A laptop

Programmer Level 1

Beginner level event. You should have your server set up, but with little experience of programming.

Requirements (you'll have these if you've been at a previous event, or have worked through the Getting Started pages):

  • A laptop
  • An AWS account (and EC2 instance) [or any other equivalent]
  • Configured web server (with a public IP)

Programmer Level 2

Beginner level event. You have your server set up and have completed one of the basic web apps (like the quiz).

Requirements:

  • A laptop
  • An AWS account (and EC2 instance) [or any other equivalent]
  • Configured web server (with a public IP)
  • Some basic knowledge we can build on (that you'll have picked up doing one of the web apps above)
